The best part of the concert wasn't the concert

Hey Reader!

Lately, we've discovered one of our favorite ways to travel and it has very little to do with the destination.

We've been planning road trips around concerts.

Over the past few months, we've seen Doja Cat, Cyndi Lauper, Foo Fighters, and Sting, with Lauryn Hill and Duran Duran coming up soon. We're even talking about making the trip to Milan to see Hermanos Gutiérrez.

But the concerts almost become the excuse.

Instead of looking at a four- or six-hour drive as something to "get through," we turn it into part of the adventure. We'll pick a town we've never visited, wander the streets for a few hours, grab lunch at a local restaurant, find a scenic viewpoint, or stumble across a little café we'd never have discovered otherwise.

By the time we arrive at the concert, it already feels like we've had a full day of exploring.

It's changed the way we think about travel.

So many people believe they need thousands of dollars or two weeks off work to create unforgettable memories.

You don't.

Sometimes all you need is a reason to go.

A concert.
A festival.
A favorite restaurant.
A hiking trail.
A weekend market.

Let that one event be the anchor, then build a little adventure around it.

Some of our favorite memories this summer haven't been the headline event; they've been the unexpected moments we found along the way.

I'd love to know...

Have you ever planned a trip around a concert, sporting event, or festival? Or if you could, who would be worth the road trip?

Just hit reply and tell me. I read every message.
